One of the South Jersey area’s finest diners, Ponzio’s in Brooklawn was a staple in Gloucester County from the 1960’s to 2008. Many area families frequented Ponzio’s over the years, raving about the great food. However, after the turn of the century, many people said the quality of the food declined and in 2008, Ponzio’s Brooklawn Diner was sold to new owners. What are some of your fond memories of Ponzio’s Brooklawn Diner?
Supposedly, the original Ponzios diner was moved to Deptford… which became the Freeway Diner. Later remodeling in Deptford makes it tough to see where the old Ponzios diner body is in the building. Sadly, the Freeway diner is for sale now (and looking long in years)
The Freeway Diner (in Deptford) was torn down in the summer of 2018.
Interestingly, Ponzios was one of the main places people headed to after Al-Jo’s closed for the night.
Mark, no, the Ponzio’s car was moved to just off Exit 7 of 295. I went there as a kid after it moved, approximately 1978. I heard the car was moved again, perhaps to Carney’s Point, but I can’t seem to find it.
