Watson’s Restaurant at 9th Street and Ocean Ave in Ocean City, New Jersey was known for its fine dining for more than 50 years. This 550 seat restaurant was a family favorite until it was torn down in 1985. The “Marine Room,” pictured below, was one of five attractive dining rooms available. The “Jersey Cape” room could be reserved for private parties. No reservations were taken at Watson’s and the lines were always long to get in. Many vacationers have fond memories of going to Watson’s for dinner and then “walking the boards” in the evening.
The restaurant was owned by John and Elaine Pfaeffli. Mrs. Botta was the long-time hostess. Take a look at the menu below from 1976.
Many people miss Watson’s Restaurant. It was always a special treat to go there. Unfortunately, the restaurant was torn down around 1985 and Watson’s Regency Resort was put up. Share your memories of Watson’s in the comments.
